Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nancy has lived throughout the Midwest: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, before landing again in Michigan for 42 years of married life.
Professionally, God has given her opportunity in business as an office worker, route checker in the Browning-Ferris Corp., a middle/high school English teacher, a Radio Talk Show host/producer, the Executive Director of a nonprofit, West Michigan Character Council, and then was elected Council member on the Holland City Council for 8 years, before being elected for two terms as the first woman Mayor in Holland’s 148 year history. During her tenure her creativity was critical in the completion of the beautiful Civic Center Place as well as other positive developments in the community.
Nancy married her husband on July 7, 1978, and have since been blessed with three children, Eric, Maria, and Jordan. They now have three wonderful grandchildren with a new tiny granddaughter on her way, due this June. Nancy homeschooled her children K-12th grade and all three children have graduated from college.
Nancy’s heart has grown over the years to love their community through their church, school, and civil involvement.
“She Leads Michigan” has been a deep calling of God in her life, connecting women of faith as she desires to make a difference for Him for such a time as this.
